The great Marilyn Maye is back in town, March 23-24 in the Dunsmore Room at Crooners Lounge.

Note: The Lead Sheet has “retired,” but in its place we present an ongoing Jazz Police Live Jazz Calendar with (at least) weekly update. And at the suggestion of one of our biggest fans, Andrea will present her totally biased “picks” for the week, on a trial basis.

Andrea’s Picks!   If you are a fan of the more avant garde of jazz, be sure to check out Sun of Goldfinger (with Tim Berne,  Dave Torn and Ches Smith) at the Icehouse on Monday, March 18th. Midweek (Wednesday, March 20), enjoy the Avishai Cohen Quartet (with pianist Fabian Almazan, bassist Barak Mori and drummer Marcus Gilmore) on stage at Vieux Carre’, touring in celebration of internationally renowned lable ECM’s 50th anniversary.  And it’s been a while since Marilyn Maye came to town–now she’s back for two nights, two shows per night in the Dunsmore Room at Crooners Lounge. Still a great voice and entertainer in her 80s.
