Note: The Lead Sheet has “retired,” but in its place we present an ongoing Jazz Police Live Jazz Calendar with (at least) weekly update. And at the suggestion of one of our biggest fans, Andrea will present her totally biased “picks” for the week, on a trial basis.

Andrea’s picks: Holiday weekends are not always so packed with enticing gigs. But here’s a winning holiday:  Zacc Harris and his quartet at Jazz Central (May 24); Maud Hixson and Rick Carlson reviving great songs of the 60s in the Dunsmore Room  (May 25);  the jazzy trio King Iden Woods at the Black Dog (May 25);  Andrew Walesch salutes Sinatra on the new outdoor stage at Crooners, followed by Ethan Iverson on solo piano in the Dunsmore Room (May 26); Jeremy Walker and Anthony Cox meld jazz with classical voice (Clara Osowski) at The Dakota (May 26); Todd Clouser/John Medeski/Greg Schutte at the Icehouse (May 27); Connie Evingson with Patty and the Buttons swinging in the new Nord Social Hall at French Meadow (May 27).  Later in the week, some creative mayhem at Jazz Central when Brad Holden joins forces with Steve Hirsh at Jazz Central (May 29) while those inclined to swing will find Maryann (Sullivan) and the Moneymakers across town at Vieux Carre’. The great Johnny O’Neal comes to town to celebrate Nat King Cole in the Dunsmore Room (May 29-30).
